Week 8 Class Plan
17 June 2026
Choice Build Workshop
Students work through a full-class build session where each group chooses one of three VEX IQ projects and focuses on completing it carefully.
Today's Activities
Choose one build with your group and stick with that project for the whole class.
Open your chosen build and follow the steps carefully from start to finish. Open Cableway Open Helicopter Open VEX Frog
Work with your group to check parts, compare progress, and help each other if a step is unclear.
Some parts in the instructions may not match your kit one-to-one, so use problem solving to work out the best part or the best way to solve the build step.
If your group chose VEX Frog, use the frog reference video if you need an extra example while building. Open Frog Reference Video
Pause and test sections of the build as you go instead of waiting until the very end.
If your build is finished, test it and make any fixes or improvements needed.
At the end, be ready to show your build and explain what your group found easy or challenging.
Week 7 Class Plan
10 June 2026
Arm Designs and Cube Stacking
Students explore how different robotic arm designs affect lifting, reach, and stacking performance, then test the Clawbot with Arm in a cube stacking challenge.
Week 6 Class Plan
3 June 2026
Clawbot Grabbing with the Optical Sensor
Students revise claw setup, practise grabbing with the clawbot, then use the optical sensor to detect and grab blocks before trying a green-only challenge.
Week 5 Class Plan
20 May 2026
Repeat Blocks and Optical Sensor Coding
Students learn how repeat blocks simplify code, then explore sensor basics, touch sensing, and optical sensing so the robot can detect objects and react to its surroundings.
Week 4 Class Plan
13 May 2026
Flapping Bird Project and Motor Challenge
Students build the flapping bird class project, test the mechanism by hand, then explore how to power it with a motor and the VEX Brain.
Week 3 Class Plan
6 May 2026
Path Planning and Claw Control
Students revisit drivetrain programming, plan movement before coding, practise pseudocode, and build toward a final claw challenge where the robot grabs a block and reverses back.
Week 2 Class Plan
29 April 2026
Controller Skills and First Coding Drive
Students explored different controller styles, practised manual driving challenges, and connected the Basebot in VEXcode IQ for their first drivetrain program.
Week 1 Class Plan
22 April 2026
Adaptive Claw
Students followed the guided classroom build for the adaptation claw project and practised using the build as their first class robot challenge.
